A spokesman for Alec Baldwin has responded to the publication of a voicemail message Baldwin left for his 11-year-old daughter, Ireland.


The spokesman claims that the voicemail message was leaked to TMZ.com by Baldwin's ex-wife, Kim Basinger and her lawyer.


After apparently being unable to reach his daughter on the phone for a pre-scheduled telephone talk, he left an angry message chastising Ireland for not accepting the call. During the message, Baldwin says his daughter "insulted him" by not "having the decency" to answer the call. At the end of the message, Baldwin calls his daughter a "rude, thoughtless little pig."


Baldwin's rep released a statement to Access Hollywood about the voicemail message.

"In the best interest of the child, Alec will do what the mother is pathologically incapable of doing... keeping his mouth shut and obeying the court order. The mother and her lawyer leaked this sealed material in violation of a court order. Although Alec acknowledges that he should have used different language in parenting his child, everyone who knows him privately knows what he has been put through for the past six years."
