After bonding during the World Cup, Cheryl Tweedy has drafted in her new best mate Victoria Beckham to help her organise her fairytale wedding to England footballer Ashley Cole.

The pair spent most of the tournament discussing what will be the WAG wedding of the year. And with just nine days to go to Victoria secretly arranged for her favourite designer Roberto Cavalli to create the 'Girls Aloud' singer's wedding gown.

Cheryl said:

"We didn't shut up - it was wedding this and wedding that. She was like, 'Your wedding dress, it's got to be amazing. I've seen some fabulous ones."

A friend of Cheryl's adds:

"Victoria and Cheryl spent the whole of the World Cup together talking about her wedding. Victoria and Roberto have a special friendship, so when she and Cheryl got talking about wedding dresses, Victoria offered to step in.
She went to the trouble of phoning Roberto to arrange for Cheryl to have a private audience with him for her dress. And she has been on the other end of the phone helping Cheryl with the lastminute alterations. Everything with the dress has to be just perfect and money is no object to Cheryl or Ashley."

Unfortunately, despite all her help with the bridal gown, Victoria and David are unlikely to be at the wedding. Officially, it's because the Beckhams had already booked their family holiday. But it is rumoured that they believe it was a mistake for Cheryl and Ashley to sell their pictures to a downmarket magazine which endlessly rehashes old interviews.

The Daily Mirror are reporting that:

"She'd love to be at the wedding and it's unfortunate the dates clash. However, she still might be able to pull something off at the last minute."
