Russell Crowe has been dumped from a new film, for a younger actor. The actor was due to star opposite close friend Nicole Kidman in a new £80 million blockbuster directed by Baz Luhrmann.
However, Crow annoyed producers by constantly demanding script rewrites so they offered the role to Heath Ledger who is 15 years his junior.
A source said:
"Russell's difficult attitude tried the producer's patience to the very limit. In the end, they told Luhrmann to find another actor."
Crowe had been lined up to play Kidman's lover in the film, which focuses on the bombing of the Australian town of Darwin by Japan in 1942.
But despite the pleas of producers, Ledger said no to the role. It is believed he passed on the film in favour of a more prestigious part to be announced soon.
Luhrmann is now frantically searching for a new male lead.
Hmmm you might say he got what he deserves, if everyone says Russell Crow is difficult then you know what your getting into, so deal with it!!
