The final five on American Idol Series 5 get to sing 2 songs tonight. One from the year they where born and then one from the current hit list. I really hope we have a good week this week - the contestants really need to step up now and show how good they are.
I wonder if Ryan and Paula manage to speak to each other? Or if Paula will break down in tears tonight? Or if Simon will be allowed to finish a sentence without Ryan or Paula shouting over him?
First up they are singing songs from the year they where born
Elliott Yamin
Singing - Broadway by George Benson
I hate to say it but I don't really like this - sounds nervous. Randy says it started rough but he got it in the middle. Paula agrees with Randy but says he has a rich voice. Simon says it was not his best performance and he is lucky he has 2 songs tonight.
Paris Bennett
Singing - Kiss by Prince
It's a hard song to do, but she has the confidence for it and I think she is doing a good job (but I still don't like her). Randy says nice to see her having fun he liked it. Paula says she like her to sings song from the past eras. Simon says screechy and annoying!
Chris Daughtry
Singing - Renegade by Styx?
Go Chris go - this is what he should be singing. No surprise that I really like this. Randy says he's a real hot one. Paula says outstanding. Simon says million times better that the first two performances. Good song choice.
Katharine McPhee
Singing - Take a look at me now by Phil Collins
This is such a hard song to sing and I think it may be too hard for her. Nope I don't like this. Randy says looks amazing but the song was not in the right key. Paula says not her favourite performance from her. Simon says in parts it was a mess and not her best performance.
Tayor "The Silver Fox" Hicks
Singing - Play that funky music by KC and the sunshine Band?
Taylor really enjoys himself on stage - fun performance. Randy says wow wild choice of song. Paula says he dressed that party and had fun. Simon says for him like a horrible, horrible wedding performance.
OK round One definitely goes to Chris - no question. With Katharine and Elliott the worst.
Now they are going to sing a song from this weeks billboard charts.
Elliott Yamin
Singing - Home by Michael Buble
Tricky song I think Elliott is struggling a bit tonight, I'm finding this a bit boring. Randy says he liked seeing his tender side. Paula says we heard the richness of his voice. Simon says wrong lyrics for tonight saying "I want to go home", and he's a bit concerned for him.
Paris Bennett
Singing - Be without you by Mary J Blige
I don't know Paris is a tricky one - we all know she can sing and she has an amazing singing voice, but she dosen't do it for me. Randy says she has taken a big risk, all in all she rocked it, but a few pitch problems. Paula says hard to capture Mary's vibe and she had hoped that she would put her own spin on it. Simon says she did rather well with that.
Chris Daughtry
Singing - I dare you by Shinedown?
Another rock song for Chris - he knows what he should be singing and he does it well. Randy says not sue he loved it. Paula says she loves him. Simon says not a great song and he thought his voice was going to go midway and he needs to be carfull, but he had a great first song.
Katharine McPhee
Singing - Cherry Tree by KT Tunstall
Well it's better than her first song, but why is she on the floor?? Randy says that's better. Paula says she loved the intimacy of it. Simon says stange show Taylors on the floor and she's on her knees!! He prefered that to the first song.
Tayor Hicks
Singing - Something by Beatles
I really like this song and I think he's doing an ok job of it, after his first performance it's good to remind everyone that he can sing as well. Randy says chose a great song. Paula says it was tender and not oversung. Simon says it's hard to remember within all his barmyness(!) that he's a very good singer.
So round two went to Taylor for me, with Elliott not so good.
So overall I think Chris was the best overall - my bottom 2 from tonight are Elliott and Paris, and I think Paris will go home even though her second song was ok!
