Hugh Grant found himself looking down the lens of his costar's, Drew Barrymore, digital camera as they filmed scenes for their new comedy, 'Music And Lyrics By', on Tuesday.
In the movie he plays a heartless reality show host based on 'X-Factor' and 'American Idol' star "Nasty" Simon Cowell, and although the actor is rather more easy going in real life, he says working on the film has given him a taste for the fly-on-the-wall format.
(Is that a ghost in the middle of the picture?)
"I'm quite susceptible to reality television," he confessed. "I'm ashamed of that part of myself, as I'm sure we all are, but there are some good ones. Wife Swap I particularly like. There was one where they took delinquent teenagers and put them through a Fifties education, and another one where they put them through an Army boot camp. Brilliant, really fascinating."
He went on to admit it was the nastiness of such programmes that made him enjoy them so much.
"I'd never watched them before, but studied a bunch of tapes - and I enjoy cruelty," he joked. "I enjoy people being humiliated and I like watching freaks. The freakier the better as far as I'm concerned. I don't think they go far enough."
I can't quite see the mild-mannered Hugh doing a 'nasty' Simon, but it should be fun to watch!!
