Ok it's Idol time again - American Idol Series 5 is down to it's final 11.
It's 50's style tonight and that style should suit Chris, Taylor, Mandisa and Katharine but please you've all got to get rid of Chicken Little, ooops.... I mean Kevin Covais.
Randy says that this week might be easier than last week. Paula thinks they will be great. Simon says he know who will be in the final 3!!!
Barry Manilow has been helping them this week (I hope to God they don't have to sing any of his songs)!!
Mandisa
Singing - 'I Don't Hurt Anymore' by Dinah Washington
This is a perfect song for her and she is doing a great job (I think). Randy says WOW he is speechless - what a classy great way to start the night. Paula says she took her back to the 50s, she is a thoroughbred. Simon says she is blossoming and that was a sexy performance and he absolutely loved it. Ryan is calling her ManDIVA.
Bucky Covington
Singing - 'Oh Boy!' by Buddy Holly
It's a good song choice for him and he's doing OK- but not as good as Mandisa (for me). Randy says good song choice. Paula says good song choice too. Simon says it was nothing more than a pointless karaoke performance - a so-what performance. Randy and Paula have a go at Simon but they never said anything about his singing at all.
Paris Bennett
Singing - 'Fever' by Peggy Lee
Another good song choice - she seams to be better singing these type of songs - that was good. Randy says by the middle of the song she blew it out of the box. Paula says she forgot she was 17 with some of those moves. Simon says this is what she does best. I have to say I don't really like her personality but she can't half sing well!!
Chris Daughtry
Singing - 'I Walk the Line' by Johnny Cash
Perfect song for him - I really like the way he is singing this, nope make that I LOVE THIS - I would buy it. Randy says maybe not the best vocal but he loves that he took the song and made it his own. Paula says she can never wait to hear him sing, he should already be touring with them buying tickets. Simon says not the best vocal but that doesn't matter because he is the first artist on the show who has refused to compromise and he respects that.
Message for my mate Kazzie (who is a Chris fan) in UK - I know your going to watch AI on Friday and you will love this!!!!!
Katharine McPhee
Singing - 'Come Rain or Come Shine' by Ella Fitzgerald
This works - I think she's doing OK, she looks very comfortable on stage. Randy says WOW (again) it was really, really hard song and she worked it out. Paula says only she could pull off this song. Simon says he thinks tonight she turned into a star because that was like watching a seasoned great performer and he LOVED IT.
At the moment Bucky isn't looking all that safe.
Taylor Hicks (The Silver Fox)
Singing - 'Not Fade Away' by Buddy Holly
He just makes me laugh - he really enjoys himself out there on stage - but it's not the best I've heard from him. Randy says the song wasn't the most challenging but he worked it out. Randy has just called him The Silver Fox, has he been reading my blog????? Paula says she loved it. Simon says sorry but it was a complete mess - he like him and his voice but it wasn't good.
Lisa Tucker
Singing - 'Why do Fools Fall in Love?' by Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers
Barry Manilow says she's a powerhouse. It's OK but doesn't knock me out. Randy says good song choice but just alright. Paula says she is back to beautifulness (what?), lots of energy, a big career ahead. Simon says it was OK but he feels trapped in a High School musical. Very cutesy not a wow performance.
What on earth is Paula on.
Kevin Corvais
Singing - 'When I Fall in Love' by Nat King Cole
You know my view - Yuk. Randy says it's one of all time favourites. A pretty good effort. Paula says he has courage to start singing sitting ten feet away from Simon. People adore you, another good job. Simon says I like you, you know your audience and they will like that version. He has to go - but he won't
Elliott Yamin
Singing - 'Teach Me Tonight' - a jazz classic
Jazz song very ambitious but seems good to me. Randy says cool. Toughest song of the night. Really worked it out, the audience love you. Paula says it gave her goose bumps she was moved. Fantastic so needed in the competition. Simon says singing was fantastic.
Kellie Pickler
Singing - 'Walking After Midnight' by Patsy Cline
Barry Manilow says everybody will love this - so natural. Country song suits her well. It's very good, I think. Randy says great song choice, country girl back, like it. Paula says tigress tonight, awesome, authentic Kellie Pickler. Simon says absolutely right, doing what you do best. Sexy, great.
Ace Young
Singing - 'In the Still of the Nite' by the Five Satins
A 'Do Wop' song not doing anything for me but what do I know. Randy says you're back, a classic song made different. Paula says sexiest, sultriest performance. Simon says not the best vocal tonight but not in the bottom three better than last week.
So for me the Weakest tonight where Bucky, Lisa, Kevin and Taylor - but I don't think they will vote Kevin off So that leaves the others in the bottom three. Bucky did not do himself justice tonight and will go.
The best tonight once again was Chris Daughtry but he was pushed by Katherine McPhee.
