Since rekindling their romance, Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton have hardly left each other's side. And yesterday publicists for the Desperate Housewives star ended days of engagement rumours by confirming that the pair are planning a trip down the aisle.

At an Oscar party hosted by Elton John the actress was wearing a huge sparkler on her ring finger. But asked if she and Michael had an announcement, Nicollette was coy saying "No. Do you?".

In January Michael, 52, would only admit that it was "a very special time in my life". Although he did make it clear that a proposal might not be a million miles off. "Nicollette and I are very serious about each other," he said. "I'm very committed."
