Musical superstars Celine Dion and Elton John sang up a storm when they performed together for the first time ever in a one-off charity event in Las Vegas.

The pair brought the 4,100 strong crowd to its feet with their duets of 'Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word' and 'Saturday Night's Alright'. In the process they helped to raise $2.1 million for hurricane victims. Concert-goers at the sold-out Ceasar's Palace venue paid between $100 and $1,000 to see them perform some of their greatest hits.

Despite them being very busy, the pair - who were joined on stage by US comedian Jerry Seinfeld - coordinated their schedules to take part as it was a cause close to both their hearts.

Elton said

"I'm just glad we can do a little something for those people's lives that will never be the same again for many, many years,"

.

Following the hurricane, Celine had been moved to tears by the tragedy while speaking on the Larry King show.

"I could see the rage inside of me as a mom, as a citizen, as a human being, and couldn't see the changes as fast as I wanted. I couldn't take the pain and couldn't take the images every night and every morning," she explained. "I just couldn't hold it anymore and I just exploded."
