So tonight's American Idol is all about the girls. The 12 of them will be singing tonight and it's the guys turn to sing tomorrow. On Thursday 4 of them (2 girls and 2 guys) will be voted off.
Here we go for 2 hours of LIVE American Idol (yikes) -
Here they all come onto stage, all looking a lot more glammed up. Ryan asked Simon how he copes with all the critisism that he get's, Simon says he hasn't had any!!! lol
Ryan then says that Paula has been a lot tougher this year.
Randy says he thinks a guy will win - the girls don't agree.
Mandisa, 29,
Singing 'Never' by rock group 'Heart'
Hmmmm, I don't really like it, it's OK though and she has a good voice. 'Wow' say the judges what a great way to start the show - Randy says it was good and shows her personality, Paula says 'phenominal, fantastic', Simon says 'not a perfect vocal, however she has an unbelievable personality' and he thinks they will see her all they way to the finals. Mandisa says her and Simon have an understanding now and they are practically dating!!!!!
Follow up:
Kellie Pickler, 19
Singing 'How Far' by 'Martina McBride'
It's OK I think, not the best but OK. Randy says 'good performance but not her best'. Paula says she is 'very likable' but that she did OK. Simon agrees with Paula(!!!!) and says that she's not a stage school monster and that she did very well. Kellie says she is really, really nervous.
Becky O'Donohue, 25
'Because the Night' by 'Pattie Smith'
She is doing OK - in fact I quite like it (but what do I know). Randy says he loved the performance. Paula says she likes the way she commands the stage but that some of the notes where off (shock from everyone that Paula says something bad about someone)!! Simon says its better than he would have expected - and that visually she is a 10, but her voice is 6.5.
Ayla Brown, 17 up next
Singing 'Reflection' by 'Christina Aguilera'
She's doing good (but you shouldn't take on Christina). Randy says he didn't think it would be that good, he was presently surprised. Paula agrees 'cos the song was very hard. Simon says he thinks she is a hard worker, that for the first time he saw some emotion and that it was one of her better performances. She says she felt amazing singing the song.
Paris Bennett 17
Singing 'Midnight Train to Georgia' by 'Gladys Knight'
She is working the crowd and looks very comfortable up on the stage. She has got to be in the final 12! The Dog Pound are on their feet and grooving. Randy says she looks like she has been doing this all her life and that she is amazing. Paula says that she is her idol. Simon agrees with them both and that she was great, also she has shown the others how good they have to be.
Stevie Scott 19
Singing 'To Where You Are' by 'Josh Groban'
Don't like it at all. Randy says it was different but that honestly it didn't get his attention. Paula says she did the right thing with the song but not a popular choice. Simon agrees with Randy and that she messed that up. (I agree with Simon).
Brenna Gethers 25 (I don't really like her)
Singing 'You Are the Sunshine of My Life' by 'Stevie Wonder' Unfortunatly she is singing well (damn). Randy says 'where's the girl with the attitude gone?' Paula says it was a safe song, it was OK. Simon says 'you are who you are'. However, that was horrible because everything they liked about her had gone. (Nope I still don't like her).
Heather Cox 22
'When you Tell me that you Love me' by 'Diana Ross'
It's not the best performance of the night, a bit bland - better at the end than the begining. Randy says it was a bit boring, didn't work for him tonight. Paula agrees with Randy and that it wasn't great. Simon says it was forgettable and was horrible.
Melissa McGhee 21
Singing 'When the Lights Go Down' by 'Faith Hill'
I quite like this, her voice is OK, slightly husky. Randy says she started rocky, ended better, but it was OK. Paula says it was a shining moment for her with sexy sultry voice, she was amazing. Simon says he is somewhere in the middle of the other two, but she is a bit lifeless and that worries him, but she did well.
Lisa Tucker 16
Singing 'I Am Changing' by 'Jennifer Holiday'
She doesn't look or sing like a 16 year old. She's really, really good (I think). Randy says she has got it and she worked it out. Paula says she is a gift that lights a fire inside her heart(!) and she is a star. Simon says she makes other girls look ordinary, and that this is the night everyone will say they remember her, when she is further along in her career. She has got to be in the final 12.
Kinnik Sky 28
Singing 'Get Here' by 'Aletta Adams' (One of my favourite songs)
Started well but then (for me) went off, but I thinks others will like it. Randy says 'the middle was off but the end was good', he gives her a 6. Paula says she looks stunning, she had a few sharp notes but has done a lovely job. Simon says she is elegant and regal but it was a bit caberet and that she is being overshadowed by the younger ones.
Katharine McPhee 21
Singing 'Since I Fell For You' by 'Barabra Streisand'
It's OK, she has a good voice but I didn't like the song. Randy says a natural talent, amazing. Paula loves her job and everything about her and thinks she is going all the way. Simon says she was the best of the night!!!! WOW
So the verdict in our house: Katharine, Paris and Lisa were the best on the night. Stevie and Heather were the worst.
What do you think???? Who is going to go on Thursday - be back tomorrow for the guys.
